Pakistan Navy has included in the trans-regional maritime network. According to Pak-Navy spokesman, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbassi signed the agreement in the naval headquarters while ambassador of Italy was also present at the occasion.
As per the spokesman, the network established in western country Italy included 32 countries while the purpose of the network is to facilitate sharing of information regarding maritime affairs on inter-regional level. The Pakistan Navy after inclusion in the network will get access to information on maritime affairs.
The spokesman added that Pakistan inclusion in the trans regional maritime network is a vital step of Pakistan Navy’s policy of mutual cooperation towards protection of sea. “By joining T-RMN community, Pakistan Navy will have access to maritime related information which will augment the comprehensive maritime picture already being maintained at Joint Maritime Information Coordination Center (JIMCC) of Pakistan Navy in Karachi,” read the official statement.
“Such multilateral arrangements play a vital role in exchange of information among member nations on maritime traffic plying across the world.”
