After media reports of killing of Pakistani citizen in Indian jail, Pakistan on Wednesday (Feb 20) officially raised the issue with Indian authorities and asked them to urgently authenticate the report, a statement issued by Foreign Ministry of Pakistan.
“Pakistan is gravely concerned at media reports regarding the brutal killing of a Pakistani Prisoner, Mr. Shakir Ullah, imprisoned in Jaipur Central Jail. He was beaten to death by a group of Indian inmates in retaliation of the Pulwama incident”, said the statement. “Meanwhile, we call upon the Indian Government to fulfill its obligations and ensure provision of foolproof security to all Pakistani inmates / prisoners in Indian Jails and Pakistani visitors to India”, it was stated.
A day earlier a Pakistani prisoner Identified as Shakirullah, who had been eight years into a life term at Jaipur central jail, was stoned to death by other inmates at the prison, the Rajasthan inspector general of police in-charge of prisons confirmed the reports. As per reports Pakistani prisoner was brutally murdered following Pulwama attack which killed 44 Indian troops.
