Pakistan decided on Monday to invite former Indian Prime Minister ‘Manmohan Singh’ to inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Sahib celebrations in November.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced the decision of the government in a video. The FM said that the decision has been taken after detailed consultations with all stakeholders. The minister added that Singh has the religious faith and is highly respected in Pakistan.
He said the inauguration of the corridor was a huge thing and Pakistan wants Singh to represent the Sikh community. “On behalf of the government, as the foreign minister of Pakistan, I invite him to attend the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor,” the minister said. He further said a formal invitation will be given to the former Indian PM.
