The United States has announced to send 3 million more doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Pakistan as the country deals with an increase in coronavirus cases due to the delta variant.
As per details, The COVID-19 doses sent through COVAX, the United Nations vaccine-sharing mechanism, are in addition to the 2.5 million doses of Moderna already received by Pakistan earlier in this month.
The COVID-19 vaccine doses will arrive in Pakistan by Saturday (today).
On the other hand, The Pakistan has lauded the announcement made by the White House to ship 3 million doses of Moderna vaccine to Pakistan through COVAX.
The Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said in a statement that these COVID-19 vaccines will give a boost to the ongoing vaccination campaign in Pakistan.
The statement of Foreign Office reads that “This considerate gesture is part of the continued assistance that the U.S. has provided to Pakistan to support our Covid relief and prevention efforts,”
