Pakistan on Friday reportedly has decided to respond to US President Donald Trump’s letter ,asking for Pakistan’s help in Afghan peace process.
“PM Imran has given the letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and directed them to prepare a reply,” diplomatic sources said. “Pakistan has decided to respond positively to the US president’s letter and assure its role in the Afghan peace process,” the sources added. The diplomatic sources further said, “The letter will stress the need for improvement in trade and economic ties between the two countries.”
Eerier White House had confirmed the news about Trump’s letter to Pakistan and U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters before the start of his meeting with his Indian counterpart, “We are looking for every responsible nation to support peace in the subcontinent and across this war in Afghanistan,” “It is time for everyone to get on board”. The letter recognizes that “Pakistan has the ability to deny the Taliban sanctuary on its territory,” the spokesperson said adding that the letter also makes clear that “Pakistan’s assistance with the Afghan peace process is fundamental to building an enduring US-Pakistan partnership.”
