Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi made a telephone call to his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavusoglu on Monday to discuss human rights violations by Indian troops in Occupied Kashmir.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Turkey should play its role to end the curfew in Occupied Kashmir while He also appreciated Turkey’s efforts for the unity of Muslim Ummah. Turkish Foreign Minister said we are observing the whole situation. He said after the Security Council meeting Turkey has stressed to resolve the issue according to UN resolutions.
Both leaders decided to meet at the UN General Assembly session being held next month.
Curfew and other restrictions imposed by the Indian authorities in occupied Kashmir has entered 23rd consecutive day, today. Due to severe blockade, people are facing acute shortage of essential commodities including baby food and life-saving medicines and the valley represents a humanitarian crisis. Hundreds of thousands of people are besieged and Jammu and Kashmir has become a big jail for its inhabitants.
The Indian authorities have been maintaining a strict curfew in the Kashmir valley since 5th August when Narendra Modi government announced scraping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
