Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in first Test match by 8 wickets as the openers Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique placed Pakistan in a commanding position.
While achieving a target of 202 by the Bangladesh, the Greeen Shirts reached 109-0 at stumps on the 4th day and needed only 93 runs on the final day, and completed the match by losing 2 wickets on 5th day.
Bangladesh’s spin bowler Taijul Islam trapped Abid Ali lbw on 91 runs while Abdullah Shafique was dismissed the same way by Mehidy Hasan on 73.
But stable partnership between Azhar Ali, who scored 24 and captain Babar Azam, who made 13, ensured Pakistan’s win.
For Pakistan, the pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed 5-32 to help Pakistan bowl out Bangladesh for 157 runs in their 2nd innings despite wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das making a fighting fifty.
