Two people were killed and seven injured when an Antonov An-24 aircraft made an emergency landing at a regional airport in the Buryatia Republic of Siberia on Thursday, the region’s emergency affairs ministry said.
The regional authorities said, the plane carrying 48 people, including 5 crew members, climbed onto the runway after landing, struck a small building and caught fire.
The plane took off from the regional capital, Ulan-Ude, and flew to Nizhneangarsk, where he was forced to make an emergency landing in the event of a failure of one of its engines, they said.
Regional authorities said a pilot and a technician were killed in the accident, but all passengers were safely evacuated before a fire destroyed the plane.
