Kristen Stewart’s flawless performance as Princess Diana in the film Spencer wowed both fans and critics.
The Twilight actress admitted that playing the Princess of Wales was scary and that she had to do extensive research into her life.
“It’s one of the saddest tragedies ever told, and I don’t just want to play Diana; I want to understand her completely. In an interview with InStyle magazine, Stewart commented, “I haven’t felt this enthused about playing a character in so long.”
In the months leading up to filming, the actress said she listened to recordings of the late princess’ voice as she went to sleep every night to prepare for such a difficult part.
“The accent is terrifying as heck because everyone recognises that voice, and it’s so distinct and unique,” Stewart said at the time. “I’m working on it right now, and I’ve already enlisted the help of a dialect coach.”
She previously stated on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she had to do a lot of homework in order to fit into the role.
“I was young and didn’t understand what was going on, but now it’s difficult not to feel protective of her,” the Happiest Season actress added. “She was so young,” says the narrator. Everyone’s viewpoint is unique, and there’s no way to get everything just right. What, after all, is fact in the context of personal experience?”
“Rather than delivering fresh knowledge, my film takes place over three days and is this really lyrical, internal picture of what that would have felt like,” the Charlie’s Angel actress revealed. “As a result, we don’t have much of a target to hit. We simply adore her.”
