The Islamabad High Court’s two-judge bench, comprising IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has dismissed the application challenging the appointment of former Chief Minister Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif as chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and declared the petition as non-maintainable. Islamabad High Court (IHC) on December 31 reserved its verdict.
Shahbaz Sharif was elected chairman of the Public Accounts Committee unopposed on December 21 as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government conceded the chairmanship of PAC to Shehbaz almost three months after a stalemate over the key position. His name was proposed by PMLN lawmaker Rohail Ashghar and endorsed by Mushahid Hussain Syed during the meeting of the parliamentary body.
