Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday (July 11) discussed the government’s strategy on a no-confidence motion against him. According to sources, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani met with PM Imran while the meeting was also attended by Senate’s leader of the house Shibli Faraz.
During the meeting, Imran Khan assured Senate Chairman of foiling no-confidence motion against him moved by the joint opposition to dethrone the chairman Lower House of the Parliament. Shibli Faraz briefed PM Imran and Senate Chairman on number game while also informed that a no-confidence motion will be brought against deputy chairman Senate to counter the opposition’s bids.
The PM also lauded Senate Chairman on his role in maintaining the affairs of the house. Earlier, the opposition on Thursday (July 11) nominated National Party’s (NP) Hasil Bizenjo for the position of Senate chairman as efforts to replace incumbent chair Sadiq Sanjrani gain momentum.
Earlier, the opposition on Tuesday (July 9) submitted a resolution, signed by 44 senators, against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani to Senate Secretary. The 11-member opposition’s anti-government Rahbar Committee had announced consensus to remove the chairman Senate.
