Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized the need to urgently lift the curfew and other restrictions that had continued for fifty days in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking with President of Swiss Confederation, Ueli Maurer on the sidelines of UNGA in New York, he underscored the importance of resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute for safeguarding peace and security in the region. Prime Minister Imran Khan apprised the Swiss President of the current situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, especially the dire human rights and humanitarian situation. They also agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse areas.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan also met Prime Minister of United Kingdom Boris Johnson on the sidelines of 74th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York
The two leaders discussed a wide range bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. Prime Minister Imran Khan apprised his British counterpart of the latest situation in occupied Kashmir and underlined need for international community to play its role in helping address dire human rights and humanitarian situation and its attendant consequences.
The Kashmir valley is under continued military siege since 5th August when Narendra Modi-led Indian government repealed the special status of occupied Kashmir and imposed strict clampdown in the territory. Thousands of Indian troops have kept millions of Kashmiris confined to their homes during all these days.
