Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Minister for Information, Shaukat Yousafzai on Wednesday (July 10) exposed the so-called austerity drive of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) led federal government while responding to the critics after it was revealed that a luxury vehicle is being imported for him.
As per details, first luxury jeep worth Rs 8 million has been imported for Shaukat Ali Yousafzai. A modern 2800cc luxury car has been imported for yousafzai against the rules which says a minister can only have 1800 cc car. Sources said it was decided to import double cabin car worth Rs5.5 million for minister, however he insisted to get a luxury Fortuner.
While defending his action he said that I am not the first one to get such kind of vehicle as these vehicles are already been used by several other ministers in the province and its shocking to see such baseless accusations against me. The minister said that all of us know that KPK is a mountainous region and for visiting remote areas I was forced to borrow a vehicle from other ministers and that’s why the Toyota’s Fortuner jeep was sanctioned for me by the Chief Minister
It is pertinent to mention Prime Minister Imran Khan in his first address to the nation on August 19, had announced the austerity drive and vowed to cut down government expenses. He initiated the campaign by announcing auction of excess luxury and other vehicles used by the prime minister
