On Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing the parliamentary leaders through video link in Islamabad called for lifting the ban on transport, added that “We don’t want a lockdown that will affect transport in the country and create food crisis,” this would badly affect the supply of essential items in the country.
PM said, “due to lockdown in Karachi, supply from the port was stopped and Gilgit-Baltistan is facing fuel shortage.” He added there was no precedence in the world of such lockdown.
PM Imran said, “Sindh was the first province which announced to impose lockdown and then under pressure from media all the other provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir followed the suit.”
The Prime Minister Request the political leadership of the country to come up with solutions, He said “We have a meeting of National Coordination Committee tomorrow “I will present my suggestions in the meeting.” we will review the situation arising out after the lockdown.”
He said, “There are multiple levels of lockdown and curfew is the last one, our concern was the poor section of the society which will face the brunt of such measures”
PM Imran said while talking about Taftan controversy, the army and Balochistan government made great efforts in taking care of pilgrims coming from Iran.
Iran could not deal with the situation and the brought our nationals to the border, leaving us no option but to allow them back into the country.
The prime minister added, “Our decision to not evacuate students from Wuhan proved right. We received the criticism from everyone but you see there is no case of coronavirus from China.”
He remarked, “Pakistan will win fight against coronavirus.”
In wake of the coronavirus situation in the country, the prime minister has called the meeting of National Security Committee on March 26 to discuss the measures and strategies to deal with the pandemic. PM will also review the lockdown situation in all four provinces and will take decisions accordingly.
