Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing a ceremony in connection with the distribution of one hundred billion rupees tax refunds amongst the businessmen in Islamabad on Thursday said a massive package for the construction industry will be announced tomorrow to maintain the significant economic activity to meet the challenge of coronavirus pandemic.
The Prime Minister said that daily workers and the poor in society are the most affected due to the current coronavirus pandemic. The government left no stone unturned to save its people from unemployment. He said that we have decided to open up the construction industry and give it the incentives it needs to provide employment opportunities to people.
He said it will also lift industries allied to construction. The construction of road infrastructure does not pose a danger of the spread of the coronavirus. He added that the necessary SOPs will also be developed to keep workers safe at the workplace.
Further, he said that the Ministry of Commerce has also framed a list of industries that may be open in the current situation.
Prime Minister also said that the national lockdown has been extended for 14 days as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.
