Police has issued arrest warrants of soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo to obtain DNA samples of player over rape allegations, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have confirmed in a statement.
“We have received numerous requests asking for confirmation of a report that detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have issued a warrant seeking to obtain a DNA sample from Cristiano Renaldo (sic) in regards to an ongoing investigation into a reported sexual assault,” the statement said. “The LVMPD is taking the same steps in this case as in any other sexual assault to facilitate the collection of DNA evidence. We can confirm that an official request has been submitted to Italian authorities”.
Former model Kathryn Mayorga, 34, of Las Vegas, made the accusations against Ronaldo in a complaint filed last year in the state of Nevada. She claims after meeting the footballer at a Las Vegas nightclub, he raped her at his hotel suite on June 13, 2009 — just before he joined Real Madrid from Manchester United for a then-world record 94 million Euro ($108 million).
