Polling for sixteen seats of the provincial assembly in tribal districts begin in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday (July 20) morning. According to the Provincial Election Commission, polling will continue till 5:00 pm without any break while 284 candidates are in the run.
As many as 83 candidates are contesting election from the platform of different political parties while 201 are independents. 1895 polling stations have been established for this purpose. Tight security measures have been taken to ensure holding of the polling in a peaceful and transparent manner.
Besides local police, army soldiers have been deployed in polling stations to help the administration in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the elections.
As many as 39 candidates of different political parties and independents are contesting elections for three seats of the KP assembly from Bajaur district being held for the first time on July 20. The supporters of the candidates have accelerated election campaign in the district by arranging elections rallies and corner meeting canvassing for their candidates.
