According to unofficial and unconfirmed results of NA-205 Ghotki By-polls, PPP’s candidate Sardar Muhammad Bukhsh Khan Maher has been declared a winner with 89,180 votes. The independent candidate, Sardar Ahmed Ali Mahar managed to grab 72,499 votes. The polling procedure commenced at 8 am sharp and concluded at 5 pm without any break.
According to ECP, a total of 0.36 million voters including 0.2 million men and 0.16 million women are present in the constituency. 290 polling stations have been set up across Ghotki out of which 125 were declared as “extremely sensitive”.
The seat had fallen vacant after the death of PTI leader and Narcotics Minister Ali Mohammad Meher on May 21.
It is to be noted that ECP had previously delayed the by-polls after it emerged that one of the contesting candidates was having his case pending in Sindh High Court and the court has barred from publishing ballet papers till July 16, therefore, elections will be held on July 23 instead of July 18.
