President Dr. Arif Alvi will address the joint parliament session which will be held today (Sep 12) at five pm at in Islamabad. Every new parliamentary year of the National Assembly starts with the address of the President of Pakistan to lawmakers of both the House of the Parliament.
According to Article 56 (3) of the Constitution, “At the commencement of the first session after each general election to the National Assembly and at the commencement of the first session of each year the President shall address both Houses assembled together and inform the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) of the causes of its summons.”
On the other hand, the meeting of the federal cabinet has been postponed due to joint session of the parliament today. Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had summoned cabinet meeting today (Thursday) to discuss different agendas including the current situation of Indian occupied Kashmir.
