In a nail biting contest, Karachi Kings defeated Lahore Qalandars by 7 runs in the 27th match of Pakistan Super League season sixth.
Karachi Kings Noor and Mohammad Ilyas picked 2 wickets each to earn a much-needed victory to the Karachi Kings as they come closer to playoffs qualification.
After winning the toss Karachi Kings Babar Azam and Martin Guptill scored 88 runs together and posted 176/5 against Lahore Qalandars in 20 overs.
After losing 2 wickets at just 21 runs, Babar and Guptill joined hands and rescued Karachi Kings to 109-1 in 12.5 overs, Babar Azam scored 54 off 44 balls with the help of 7 boundaries whilst Guptill made 43 laced with 2 boundaries and 3 sixes.
The Kings skipper Imad Wasim played a cameo, in the end, to finish off things well, He scored 30 runs off 19 balls spread over 3 boundaries and a six. Danish made 16 runs including a boundary and a six.
For Lahore Qalandars, Rashid Khan picked 2 wickets while Shaheen, Ahmed Daniyal and Mohammad Hafeez shared a wicket apiece.
While chasing the target, Lahore Qalandars were off to a decent start with Sohail Akhtar and Fakhar Zaman sharing the crease together to score 38 runs.
Karachi Kings Mohammad Ilyas made the breakthrough in the 5th over when he got Qalandar’s skipper Sohail LBW, Hescored 21 with the help of 4 boundaries.
The veteran Mohammad Hafeez made run-a-ball 36 but remained in trouble against young Noor who outclassed him with his clever bowling, Hafeez gave away his wicket to him with a straight catch at extra cover.
Qalandar’s Tim David (34) and James Faulkner (33) brought in a little twist in the end by scoring 58 runs together at the 6th wicket, But, Abbas Afridi and Ilyas got rid of them to bring Kings back in the run.
