Karachi Kings defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs in the second match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In the match played at the National Stadium in Karachi, Darren Sammy captain of Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and invited the Karachi Kings to bat. Karachi scored 201 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
In reply, the Peshawar team scored 191 for 7 in the 20 overs. Babar Azam was declared the best player of the match.
Karachi kings Captain Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan started the innings but Sharjeel Khan was caught out of hands of Shoaib Malik in the third over, trying to put Hassan Ali third six. He scored 19 runs. The other outgoing player was Cameron Delport, who returned to the pavilion by 20 runs. In the third wicket partnership, Babar-e-Azam and Imad Wasim put on a superb game and set a big target.
Both batsmen scored half-centuries, but Babar Azam scored 78 runs, while skipper Imad Wasim also scored 50 runs and got off the hands of Shoaib Malik. Karachi Kings scored 201 for 4 in the stipulated 20 overs. From Peshawar Zalmi, Hasan Ali took two wickets and Mohammad Mohsin took one wicket.
Peshawar’s innings started with Tom Bunton and Kamran Akmal, but Buttun was out for 13 runs. After that, Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik also returned to the pavilion with 4 and 6 runs.Kamran Akmal was dismissed for 43 off 26 balls and Karachi Kings returned to the match. After Kamran, Liam Livingstone took charge and batted responsibly, but on the other end, Liam Dawson scored 22 runs.
Captain Darren Sammy then set up a partnership with Livingstone, but failed to win the team and was bowled out for 30 runs. Peshawar needed 14 off 3 balls but they only managed 3 runs and the match was won by Karachi Kings. Liam Livingstone scored 54 not out. From Karachi, Umaid Asif and Chris Jordan took two wickets each while Mohammad Amir and Cameron Dilport each took one wicket.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy won the toss and said there is a new tournament and a new venue, anything can happen, but fitness is good and the game is all set. Darren Sammy says Pakistani fans are always awesome and they give me alot of love every season. Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim said wicket is good for batting. We will try to score more than 170.
“Our batting has been good and bowling is strong,” Imad Wasim said.
Referring to the match at the National Stadium, Imad Wasim said, “This is our home ground and Karachi is in our hearts”.
