The federal and Punjab governments have signed agreement with Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) end the sit-ins, protests and blockade across the country. TLP staged sit-ins and protests against the acquittal of blasphemy accused Aasia Bibi by the Supreme Court.
No breakthrough was made in the first five rounds of negotiations between the government representatives and TLP leadership. Finally both sides reached to an agreement to end the three day long standoff between the two sides.
The country was at a standstill for the third consecutive day as protests and sit-ins continued. Several parts of the country witnessed severe disruption as enraged protesters blocked roads and forced markets to shut down. Protesters resorted to arson and vandalism in many parts of the country and damaged private and public property in various incidents.
