Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Raja Riaz on Tuesday (Feb 12) opposed the inclusion of Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as he said “PTI members are already included in the PAC and they are committed to perform with dedication. They will not allow Shehbaz Sharif to do anything against the rules”. “There is no need of appointing him in the committee,” he went on to say.
After the keen interest of Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, for becoming the member of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Jan 30 nominated Sheikh Rashid Ahmed for his desired post. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed expressed his interest in joining the Public Accounts Committee to ensure accountability of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership. “I will write a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, asking him to replace any of his members with me in the Public Accounts Committee,” he had said in a press conference.
It is necessary to mention that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President and Shahbaz Sharif was elected chairman of the Public Accounts Committee unopposed as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government conceded the chairmanship of PAC to Shehbaz almost three months after a stalemate over the key position.
