Quetta Gladiators secured their first win of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6 by defeating Multan Sultans by 22 runs at the National Stadium.
Quetta Gladiators restricted Multan Sultans to 154 and dismissed them in 19.4 overs.
Quetta Gladiators while batting first posted 176/7 in 20 overs courtesy of a brilliant debut by Usman Khan.
Usman Khan smashed 81 runs off 50 which included 10 fours and 3 sixes, He partnered with Saim Ayub (23 off 18 balls) at the top and post 69.
Usman Khan continued to put Sultan bowlers under pressure but his lone battle came to end after he tried to reverse sweep Imran Tahir (2/29).
For Multan Sultans, Shahnawaz Dahani once again were among the wicket-takers as he bagged 3 for 44 in 4 overs.
Multan Sultans, While chasing the target of 177 were provided a solid foundation by openers Mohammad Rizwan and James Vince.
Both openers of Multan added 63 until Afghanistan’s Qais Ahmed with his leg-spin bowling changed the complex of the game.
In his 3 consecutive overs, Qais removed Vince (24), Shan Masood (1), Rilee Rossouw (3).
After that Mohammad Nawaz picked the wicket of hard-hitter Sohaib Maqsood (2), He finished with figures of 3/21 in 4 overs
Mohammad Rizwan was putting up a lone battle from one end and in the process and posted his 3rd fifty of this year’s PSL.
The run-rate kept creeping as Mohammad Hasnain (2/39) sent back Khushdil Shah and Carlos Braithwaite in the 17th over.
Zahid Mehmood (2/34) picked Mohammad Rizwan and Sohail Khan in consecutive deliveries.
