In the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators defeated Islamabad United by 43 runs at Abu Dhabi. Batting first, Quetta Gladiators set victory target of 181 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Opener Ahmad Shehzad’s gritty half-century helped Quetta Gladiators to set a formidable 181-run target as Shehzad smashed 73 runs off 46 balls with nine boundaries and a six, while middle-order batsman Umar Akmal added 27 off 17 to the total.
Shane Watson s cameo had got the side off to a flyer, Umar Akmal s breezy stay at the crease kept Quetta chugging along, and even a remarkable collapse towards the close couldn t prevent them from reaching a daunting 180.
While chasing a decent target of 181, Islamabad United could score 137/9 in 20 overs as Quetta’s bowlers brilliantly restricted them to record a 43 runs victory.
