Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi who is currently on regional peace mission, has arrived Muscat, the capital of Oman.
He was received by Pakistan Ambassador to Muscat Ahsan K.K. Wagan and other officials of Omani Foreign Ministry at the Airport. The Foreign Minister will express condolence with the Royal family over the sad demise of Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said.
Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman died Saturday, according to the country’s Diwan of Royal Court. He was 79. Sultan Qaboos went abroad for treatment twice since 2014. He went to Belgium on Dec. 7 because of health problems and returned Dec. 13, Oman News Agency reported.
Before landing in Oman, Qureshi underlined the need to reduce tension in the Gulf region to ensure peace, stability and security. He was talking to his Saudi Counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Riyadh on Monday.
He said Pakistan would support all efforts for peace and provide all possible facilitation for constructive engagement among parties concerned.
