Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a telephonic conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif reiterated the earlier call made by Prime Minister Imran Khan to lift sanctions against Iran so it could fight the coronavirus pandemic and to save precious human lives.
According to a press release issued by the Foreign Office, during the conversation, Qureshi also expressed deep concern and grief over the loss of life in the ongoing pandemic. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also praised the Iranian government and the people for valiantly fighting the global pandemic of Coronavirus.
FM Qureshi said the pandemic was one of the greatest challenges to confront humanity in a century. He also apprised his Iranian counterpart of Pakistan’s efforts to contain the pandemic.
Zarif appreciated the reaffirmation of Pakistan’s support and solidarity and called for the sanctions against Iran to be lifted. He also informed the Pakistani Foreign Minister that, following instructions from Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, two hospitals have been allocated for pilgrims from Pakistan and other countries.
