KARACHI: Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the city this afternoon, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Thunderstorms may form in Karachi this afternoon, according to Met Karachi Director Sardar Sarfraz, resulting in light to moderate rain in some regions.
Because of the system in the Arabian Sea, he claims there is no sea wind. He explained that the rain from yesterday was caused by moisture from the Arabian Sea, while the consequences of low air pressure in the Bay of Bengal are still to come.
Low pressure will bring rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, he said.
He predicted that rain would fall intermittently in Karachi till July 16, with heavy rain possible in some areas.
The PMD noted in a second statement that humid monsoon winds are still blowing in lower Sindh, and that another low pressure system is approaching Central India.
Lower Sindh may be affected by the low air pressure starting July 15. Rain is expected in all lower Sindh districts through July 16, according to PMD.
Rain is forecast in upper and central Sindh until July 17, according to PMD.
According to PMD, rainwater may collect in lower areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Sukkur, and Larkana.
