An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Monday (March 25) indicted former Malir SSP Rao Anwar for the murder of Waziristan native Naqeebullah Mehsud in a fake encounter in Karachi.
Earlier an anti-terrorism court on March 18 reserved its judgement on the plea pertaining to clubbing the murder cases of Naqeebullah Mehsud and four others, Sabir, Nazar Jan and Ishaq. After completion of arguments on Naqeebullah’s father’s plea to club the cases, the court reserved the verdict.
All cases against Naqeebullah Mehsud were dismissed on Jan 24 as the report submitted by inquiry committee stated that, in light of the evidence and crime scene, the encounter was fake and fabricated adding that weapons and bullets were placed in the room after the murders took place. There was no evidence at the site to prove that the four men fired at the police. Rao Anwar and his accomplices were present at the farmhouse. Court also dismissed the charges of terrorism.
Naqeebullah Mehsud was killed on January 13, 2018 in Karachi, Pakistan during a fake encounter staged by the senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Karachi’s Malir District, Rao Anwar Ahmed Khan.
