Rains have been continuing in different parts of the country, According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, the current rain spell is expected to last till Saturday.
At least five people have so far died in separate incidents followed by heavy downpour in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Reported by local news channel.
According to rescue sources, a woman and her one-year-old son lost their lives when rainwater flooded the basement of the house in Rawalpindi. In addition, a young man lost his life on the Sehala bridge.
In Lahore, a couple was killed and three others were injured in a house collapse in the village of Leel at Ring Road.
National Disaster Management Authority spokesman Brigadier Mukhtar Ahmad said flooding is expected in the Indus, Chenab and Ravi rivers due to recent rains.
He warned people living in the riverbed to remain alert to any difficult situation. He added that people are also evacuated from areas whenever necessary.
Brigadier Mukhtar Ahmed said that NDMA, Rescue 1122, WASA and the police had been alerted for a quick response to any emergency caused by the floods .
