The 45th death anniversary of renowned Urdu Ghazal poet Saghar Siddiqui is being observed on Friday (July 19). He was born in 1928 at Ambala as Muhammad Akhtar, Saghar Siddiqui started poetry at very young age.
At the age of 16, he started regularly attend mushairas. He migrated to Pakistan in 1947 and settled in Lahore. He continued to write lyrics for the film industry and moved on to publish a literary magazine. His poetry earned immense popularity even after his death.
In July 1974, Siddiqui was found dead on a street corner of Lahore at age 46. He was buried at the Miani Sahib graveyard.
