Family of deceased Khalil, who was killed in Sahiwal shootout in this month has raised concerns about non serious behavior of the government and demanded formation of judicial commission in accordance with the Punjab Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969. Victims’ family also challenged the formation of Joint Investigation Team in Lahore High Court.
In a petition submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC), complainant , Jalil, noted that he does not expect justice from the Sahiwal encounter JIT and he also claimed that some higher authorities in Punjab are trying to save officials of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The Senate Standing Committee, on the other hand, has also ordered the JIT to halt its investigations.
Earlier Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate Sahiwal killing of four people, under AIG Aijaz Shah’s supervision, in its initial findings held Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials responsible for killing of people in Sahiwal and declared Late Khalil’s family innocent as they have no links with terrorists, said Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja.
