Chief Justice Lahore High Court Sardar Shamim on Thursday (Feb 14) during the hearing of petition filed by deceased’s brother Jalil, ordered to form Judicial commission to investigate the killing of four people in Sahiwal encounter.
“The LHC chief justice has ordered a judicial inquiry through a magistrate at a local level,” lawyer Ehtisham Ameer-ud-din, who is representing the victims’ families, told local news channel. “But we want a judicial commission. Once we get the written order today and if we are not satisfied, we might challenge the order in the Supreme Court,” the lawyer added.
Earlier Punjab government on Wednesday (Feb 13) ordered the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to present its detailed report on Sahiwal shootout till February 19. Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate Sahiwal killing of four people, under AIG Aijaz Shah’s supervision, in its initial findings held Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials responsible for killing of people in Sahiwal and declared Late Khalil’s family innocent as they have no links with terrorists.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on January 19 had claimed that four alleged terrorists, members of militant organisation, Daesh, including two women were shot dead, in an operation near GT Road, Sahiwal.
