Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar on Thursday (Jan 31) after one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the oppositions’ demand to form judicial commission in order to probe Sahiwal Killing and said that investigation is underway in a transparent manner adding that action has already been taken against persons involved in Sahiwal Killing.
Talking to media after holding meeting with Prime Minister Imran, he aid There is no immediate need of judicial commission as investigation into Sahiwal incident is moving forward in transparent manner.” Buzdar said: “A total of Rs20 million will be paid to the victims’ families.”
Earlier family of deceased Khalil, who was killed in Sahiwal shootout in this month has raised concerns about non serious behavior of the government and demanded formation of judicial commission in accordance with the Punjab Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969. Victims’ family also challenged the formation of Joint Investigation Team in Lahore High Court. The Senate Standing Committee, on the other hand, has also ordered the JIT to halt its investigations.
