The main complainant in the Sahiwal tragedy has once again raised doubts regarding ongoing investigation in the Sahiwal encounter and refused to appear before the Joint Investigation team and they will not take part in an identification parade.
As per reports the JIT had summoned the victim’s brother, Jalil, his nephew Umair, and other witnesses cited in the First Information Report (FIR) to Sahiwal on Wednesday, but they didn’t appeared. While victim’s brother, Jalil said that “We do not trust this JIT at all. It [the JIT] has only worked to damage our case. Why must we go through the identification process again? These people know well who the killers are but they just don’t want to act against them”.
Earlier on January 19, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed that four alleged terrorists, members of militant organisation, Daesh, including two women were shot dead, in an operation near GT Road, Sahiwal. Ten officials in uniform and six in plainclothes carried out the operation. They intercepted the vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in the death of four persons. Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate Sahiwal killing of four people, under AIG Aijaz Shah’s supervision, in its initial findings held Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials responsible for killing of people in Sahiwal and declared Late Khalil’s family innocent as they have no links with terrorists, said Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja.
