Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate Sahiwal killing of four people, under AIG Aijaz Shah’s supervision, will submit its report today (Jan 22), Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said during his interaction with media.
“I was in Mianwali when I was informed about the Sahiwal incident,” he said. “A high-level JIT is probing the incident and will submit its report by 5pm tomorrow,” he added. “We have announced to give Rs20 million to the affected family,” the provincial chief minister said while adding that a meeting has been summoned at 5pm tomorrow. “I cannot hang anyone and action will be taken after the inquiry report is submitted.” “I will take action and show you,” he added.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday (Jan 19) claimed that four alleged terrorists, members of militant organisation, Daesh, including two women were shot dead, in an operation near GT Road, Sahiwal. Ten officials in uniform and six in plainclothes carried out the operation. They intercepted the vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in the death of four persons. According to postmortem report, the deceased driver, Zeeshan, received 10 bullets while the children’s father, Khaleel, was shot 13 times and mother, Nabeela Bibi, received four bullets while 13-year-old Areeba was shot six times. The CTD officials involved in the alleged extrajudicial killing were taken into custody on the orders of Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar, a CM House spokesperson said on Saturday.
