Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has came under fire as the governments’ stance on killing of innocent family in Sahiwal could not satisfy the opposition parties and opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif while speaking in National Assembly, demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar over the Sahiwal tragedy. “[PM] Imran Khan demanded my resignation over Model Town incident … and now he should resign on Sahiwal tragedy, ” he said.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanullah while speaking to reporters outside the National Assembly on Wednesday (Jan 23) has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar over the Sahiwal tragedy. Sanaullah said the PM and CM should resign and appear before an impartial Joint Investigation Team (JIT). “If they are found to be innocent, they can return to their posts,” he said.
He also claimed that JIT report was a drama and he also criticized the ministers’ false statement about terrorists fleeing, recovery of suicide jackets and ammunition. “This stance of the ministers was an attempt to save the accused. They should now apologise to the nation,” Sanaullah asserted. PML-N leader Rana Tanveer said, “Several questions remain to be answered”.
Earlier on January 19, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed that four alleged terrorists, members of militant organisation, Daesh, including two women were shot dead, in an operation near GT Road, Sahiwal. Ten officials in uniform and six in plainclothes carried out the operation. They intercepted the vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in the death of four persons. Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate Sahiwal killing of four people, under AIG Aijaz Shah’s supervision, in its initial findings held Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials responsible for killing of people in Sahiwal and declared Late Khalil’s family innocent as they have no links with terrorists, said Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja.
But on the other hand the intelligence agencies claim that strong evidence have been found that prove that driver Zeeshan was in contact with terrorists as mobile phone seized on shows him pictured with a high profile terrorists who was killed in CTD’s operation in Faisalabad on January 15.
