MULTAN: First lady Samina Arif Alvi attended a seminar organized by Pink Ribbon Pakistan, She declared Pink Ribbon a symbol of hope against breast cancer.
The first lady encouraged all women who had crossed the age of 40 to get a mammography at least once a year to eradicate breast cancer. She is a breast cancer activist and can often be witnessed talking on different forums about breast cancer and other issues faced by women in Pakistan.
She stated, “If breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, there are more than 90 per cent chances of full survival.”
Earlier on October 7, President Dr. Arif Alvi here had urged religious scholars and media to play their due role in creating awareness about breast cancer.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, President Alvi had said, “Allah Almighty commanded the mother to breast feed her child for two years and added that breastfeeding lowers breast cancer risk.”
The President also stressed that open discussion regarding breast cancer was important and the members of parliament should also do their part in this regard.
