Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari on Monday (July 8) while addressing a press conference, slammed opposition over involvement in high profile corruption cases and said that opposition is just in efforts to escape from accountability.
He also took a jibe at former first daughter Maryam Nawaz’s rally in Mandi Bahauddin, and said that it is the first time in history where a convict was hurling blames towards the courts and security institutes of the country. He also termed the Maryam’s rally as tactics to save herself from corruption cases.
While talking about corruption cases against PML-N leaders, he said, Sharif Family had been involved in preparing fake documents and tempering record. He said that PML-N sought to bring Pakistani politics at a point of no return. He once again made it clear that those who considered themselves above the law would be brought to justice
Earlier, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz on Saturday (July 6) came out with explosive claims regarding the trial that led to her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, being convicted and sentenced to prison, saying the entire judicial process was severely compromised. The video clip played at the joint press conference led by senior PML-N leadership revealed a meeting between a party worker [Nasir Butt] and the accountability judge.
On the other hand, Judge Arshad Malik categorically rejected allegations of any pressure against anyone during the trial of Nawaz Sharif in the various references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
In a press release issued by Judge Arshad Malik, he stated: “I didn’t have any pressure directly or indirectly during the case against Nawaz Sharif”. He alleged that he was offered bribe many times during the trial of the case, adding that representative of Nawaz Sharif gave him threats of dire consequences if he did not cooperate during the trial.
