Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani will hold important meeting with National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar today to discuss matter regarding appointments of Election Commission of Pakistan members.
According to details, the development came after Sanjrani received a letter from Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan regarding the issue. Both the leaders will deliberate upon the strategies in the light of PM Imran Khan’s letter. In a letter to Chairman Senate Sadiq Sinjrani and Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, the premier recommended names for the appointment of the CEC and other ECP members.
Earlier, PM Office had raised objections on the names recommended by opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif for the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner. Earlier, leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan recommending three names for the post of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president, in a letter to the premier, recommended the names of Nasir Mahmood Khosa, Jalil Abbas Jillani and Akhlaaq Ahmed Tarar for the post of CEC.
