Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani will retain the chairmanship of senate as the vote of no confidence against him failed to get the required majority. Sanjrani got 44 votes while the 50 votes were cast for no confidence motion moved by the united opposition. 5 votes were rejected. The opposition was needed 53 votes to remove Sanjrani. But it failed to get enough votes.
Eight opposition members cast their votes in favour of Sanjrani. They changed their party loyalty. It seems that horse trading played its role. It is a big setback for the opposition parties as they failed to maintain their majority.
