The film Zindagi Tamasha by Pakistani director Sarmad Khoosat is no longer an Oscar nominee.
The shortlisted films for each category were published by The Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences on February 5.
Unfortunately, the board of directors of Khoosat was not selected to go through the committee’s first round of voting.
The film was originally nominated for the 93rd Academy Awards in the International Feature Film Award category.
Oscar and Emmy award-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy chaired the Pakistani Oscar committee for 2020 that selected the film.
In addition to Faisal Kapadia, Asad-ul-Haq, Hamza Bangash, Syed Muhammad Ahmed, Mehwish Hayat, Hasan Shehreyar Yasin, Asim Abbasi, Arshad Mahmud, and Jamal Shah, the committee consisted of major names from the industry.
Despite being filmed in Lahore, Zindagi Tamasha was not released in the region.Meanwhile, the final 2021 winners will be announced at the April 25 Oscar ceremony.
