The Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned tax record of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan’s properties. During the hearing of the case pertaining to foreign property holdings of Pakistani nationals the Federal Board of Revenue told the court that it is not yet confirmed whether she had properties abroad.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar asked the chairman FBR if the premier’s sister owns any property in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and further inquired if she had benefited from an amnesty scheme. The FBR chairman said amnesty scheme record could be presented on the court orders. “Is Aleema Khan’s property in your name. Is this your property. Why are you repeatedly talking about secret property,” Chief Justice was quoted as saying.
Earlier Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday, in his informal conversation with journalists demanded that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should investigate the Dubai property owned by Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan. He raised questions during his appearance before an accountability court. “The nation wants to know the money trail of her foreign properties,” said Mr Sharif. “Apparently, there was no source of income. It must be thoroughly investigated how she accumulated wealth to acquire properties in Dubai, whether it was her own money or someone used her to purchase benami properties,” he said. She regularised the Dubai properties by paying a ‘nominal fine’, the ex-PM said. “Wasn’t that an NRO?” he asked.
