The Islamabad High Court will hear former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s appeal against his conviction in Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference on September 18.
Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani will hear the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s plea.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has received Nawaz’s paper books from the registrar office. The bureau also collected the verified copies of the statement of former Accountability Judge Arshad Malik.
On December 24, 2018, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to seven years in prison in Al-Azizia reference case by an accountability court. In a short verdict announced, the court said there was concrete evidence against the former premier in the Al-Azizia reference and that he was unable to provide a money trail in the case.
The accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad Malik had announced the verdict in the two references namely Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment and sentenced the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader to seven years in prison and ordered him to pay $25million and Rs1.5 billion as fine.
