Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has announced compensation money for the victims of the collision between Akbar Express and a freight train in Sadiqabad of Rahim Yar Khan.
The minister announced to give Rs1.5 million to bereaved families and Rs0.5 million to the families of the injured. Earlier, Sheikh Rasheed expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in an accident of Akbar Express, affirming that the responsible individuals won’t be spared.
Ordering to carry out probe into the matter, Sheikh Rasheed summoned a comprehensive report from pertaining officials. “In the case of negligence, we will not spare those due to which incident took place. I have been informed that eight to nine persons have died. I’m myself monitoring entire scenario”, Rasheed told media.
At least 11 people were killed and more than fifty injured when Quetta bound Akbar Express collided with a goods train at Walhar near Sadiqabad on Thursday (July 11) morning.
The engine of the passenger train got completely destroyed after it hit a freight train at Dulhar railway station. Getting the information, rescue teams reached the spot and carrying out the relief and rescue work. Following the accident up and down track, railway traffic is suspended.
