After the keen interest of Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, for becoming the member of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday (Jan 30) nominated Sheikh Rashid Ahmed for his desired post.
According to sources, Sheikh Rashid’s name was sent to Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar who will issue a notification of his inclusion in the Public Accounts Committee. Earlier Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed expressed his interest in joining the Public Accounts Committee to ensure accountability of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership. “I will write a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, asking him to replace any of his members with me in the Public Accounts Committee,” he had said in a press conference.
It is necessary to mention that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President and Shahbaz Sharif was elected chairman of the Public Accounts Committee unopposed as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government conceded the chairmanship of PAC to Shehbaz almost three months after a stalemate over the key position.
