Anti-polio campaign began in various parts of the country today (June 17). In Punjab, the anti-polio drive began in seven sensitive districts, including Lahore, Multan, DG Khan, Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Sheikhupura. Over four point three million children will be administered anti-polio vaccine during the campaign.
In Sindh, around 5.5 million children under-five years of age will be vaccinated against polio virus across the province. The campaign will continue for a week in all six districts of Karachi while it will end on Thursday in the remaining districts of the province.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three-day anti-polio campaign is being carried out in nine selected districts, including Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, D.I. Khan, Tank, South Waziristan, Shangla, Buner and Torghur. In Balochistan, more than 1.3 million children up to five years of age would be administered anti-polio vaccine in thirteen districts during three-day anti-polio campaign.
