Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in a joint interview with Sindhi news channels said the federal government led by the PTI did not have the courage to touch on the 18th constitutional amendment.
He said that the timely actions of the Sindh government prevented a situation like Italy, Iran, New York, and Wuhan from arising in Pakistan while other provinces were following in the footsteps of the Sindh government and that and the deadly virus didn’t spread rapidly.
Addressing the governor of Sindh, Imran Ismail, he said that the provincial government was trying to save the lives of citizens while the governor, the representative of the federation in the province, opposed measures by the government of Sindh such as the lockdown
Bhutto-Zardari lamented that PPEs have not been provided to doctors and paramedical staffs by the federation so far. Added that “some masks and test kits have been provided by the NDMA to the provinces. So far, the provinces are meeting 90 percent of the costs of the coronavirus crisis with their own resources, but the provinces alone cannot cope with this global pandemic.”
