Ever since news broke out about the disappearance of Naya Rivera, viewers have clinged to her previous portrayal of If I Die Young on Glee.
The actress, 33, had sung The Band Perry’s original version back in 2013 to pay tribute to Cory Monteith, one of her late costars on the show.
Although Rivera had sung on Glee the powerful version of Finn Hudson ‘s character by Monteith, the same show, years later, stirs an emotional response from her fans as she’s presumed dead since last Wednesday after disappearing from Lake Piru in California.
The soul-stirring video shows the character of Rivera bursting into mid-performance tears recalling her late costar and leaving the room while her fellow members of the Glee club rushed to console her.
Rivera and her four-year-old son Josey had gone to Lake Piru for a boat trip last week on Wednesday. Her son was found to be unaccompanied on a boat telling people that his mother had gone for swimming but never returned.
Officer Chris Dyer of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said earlier: “We ‘re presuming an accident occurred, we ‘re presuming she died in the lake. There’s no evidence of foul play, no indication that something went wrong, in addition to a tragic accident.”
Glee’s cast has been previously also hit with a variety of tragedies and scandals. After an apparent drug overdose, Cory Monteith who essayed Finn Hudson ‘s position on the show was found dead at age 31 in 2013. Mark Sallinger, who played Noah Puckerman, reportedly took his own life at the age of 35 in 2018, after being found guilty of child pornography.
