KARACHI: According to sources on Saturday, an aircraft of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) carrying a consignment of Sinopharm vaccine from China landed at Islamabad airport last night.
According to sources, the PIA flight transported 7,92,000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine to Islamabad, which Pakistan had purchased from the Chinese manufacturer.
According to sources, two more consignments of 12,08,000 vaccine doses will arrive from China in the next 36 hours.
Two Boeing 777 aircraft will arrive in Pakistan from Beijing on Saturday, carrying more than two million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, according to a PIA official.
It went on to say that more than 15 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been delivered to Pakistan via the national carrier’s aircraft.
As many as 64,000 more doses of Pfizer vaccination had arrived in Pakistan earlier on Friday. The vaccination from the United States had arrived in Islamabad on a foreign aircraft flight.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) in Pakistan reported 4,720 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
According to the NCOC, the total number of confirmed cases in the country has climbed to 1,063,125, including 959,491 recoveries, with an infection positive rate of 8.24 percent.
The COVID-19 has claimed 95 additional lives in Pakistan in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 23,797, according to the NCOC, with 4,275 persons in serious condition.
